I'm Kayla, a Hunter Valley based wedding photographer who gets a real kick out of documenting the closeness and the connection between two people.
I love the way style and design can shape the entire vibe of the day. I love when people feel comfortable enough to be the most genuine, unapologetic version of themselves, because that’s where all the magic happens. Creating unposed, romantic photography for couples is my jam.
My photography style is highly influenced by fashion, both magazines and history. I love the vintage feel of film and love incorporating that into each gallery I create. My work is the perfect mix of smooth modern edits and vintage film feels.
Who books me?
I definitely have a type. The typical wedding I shoot is beautifully styled, they're fun with an even mix of big extravagant moments and small intimate details. My clients want to be photographed without knowing I'm there, they want to open their gallery and see the incredible party they planned being enjoyed by their friends and family, they want to be shown all the moments they missed (but I didn't) while they were off enjoying themselves. They want natural and refined images that transport them back to how they felt in that moment. They want to have a good time and have it photographed in a way that won't impede on their day and leave them with beautiful, lasting memories. That's how I work.
The thing I love most about photographing weddings is the atmosphere. It's the fact that it's one day where your friends and family stop time to celebrate your relationship.
I think capturing special memories is a result of creating great experiences and letting people feel comfortable. I’m partial to making myself look like an idiot to see others smile, keeping conversation alive to make you feel comfortable and giving gentle direction, so you don’t have to guess what to do.
I'm a no bullshit kind of person and I approach weddings with the same attitude. I don't think there should be any pressure on you to pose and feel comfortable having your photo taken. I'm there to document the day, not be in control of it.
My approach to photographing couples is pretty relaxed. I like to let you do you, but I also love helping guide you through your day. Whether that be making timeline recommendations, helping with a bit of direction during your portrait session, or moving things along during family photos to stay on track. I'm pretty happy to be as involved as you need me to be, to keep things calm and fun.
The portrait session is an easy 20 minutes of walking. laughing, joking and as little or as much PDA as you're comfortable with. It's your show.
This photo is a strong representation of my style. At this moment Taylor's family were gathering people for their family photo. Most people would wait until everyone was ready to photograph them, but when I saw this scene it felt like a real life metaphor. The family were fussing over who was meant to be in the photo, who was missing, how they should stand, but Taylor's grandma was oblivious to trivial factors, just happy to be there with her family. It highlights how she is the rock of their family, the one who slows them down and makes them appreciate each other.
My galleries are a collection of these in between, seemingly unfinished moments. Only around 10% of my galleries are couples portraits, while having beautiful photos of the two of you together is important, my aim is to give you a lifetime of memories of the people you love.
My perfect timeline would be to have you spend the afternoon with your friends and family creating these priceless memories, then duck out for 20 minutes at sunset for portraits.
Needless to say, I was sick with nerves on the day of the wedding (there's a lot that has to go right!), when Kayla turned up to shoot the grooms party those nerves quickly left and were filled with excitement. She has a great way of taking the photo's and making it even more a fun experience. Her photo's are INCREDIBLE. Worth every penny, we can't stop scrolling through them and we've only received the previews ha! Thank you so much Kayla you're a legend!

My husband (yay!) and I could not recommend Kayla from Luna Wilde more highly, we feel so honuored to have had her capture our wedding day. Right from the initial point of contact a natural, easy connection was formed. Kayla 100% understood our brief of natural, aesthetic, "not posed" photos and man did she deliver! The photos she has produced are beyond our wildest dreams. Kayla not only managed to capture amazing pictures of our wedding day, but she has captured all the emotion, fun and magic that it held. When we view our gallery we are transported back to not only what it looked like, but how it felt. Thank you Kayla for making our memories tangible, beautiful things we can hang on our wall and admire forever!

You choose me, we become best friends, friends for life even. We have the day of our lives at your wedding, create beautiful memories together and have a flipping good time!
You go about your day and forget you were even here. In three months time you come back and some other lucky legend has snapped me up. You live your life forever regretting not becoming my best friend, writing memoirs about the photographer who got away
HOT TIP; Regrets get you nowhere!
