I'm Kayla, a Hunter Valley based wedding photographer who travels all over the world photographing weddings.
My photography style is highly influenced by fashion, both magazines and history. I love the vintage feel of film and love incorporating that into each gallery I create. My work is the perfect mix of smooth modern edits and vintage film feels.
I love interior design and when I'm not shooting weddings I fill what little free time I have with flipping houses. My mornings are a continuous routine of waking up early, enjoying a coffee before the sun rises and walking my two German Shepherds Marra and Benji who I love more than anything on this earth.
My love for interior design has trickled into my wedding work in the sense that I understand the importance of a shared vision, and understand what it takes to hit the brief with every minor detail considered. If you think we share the same values when it comes to your day I'd love to hear about your plans.
I’m partial to making myself look like an idiot to keep the mood light, keeping conversation alive to make you feel comfortable and giving gentle direction, so you don’t have to guess what to do. My approach to photographing couples is pretty relaxed. I like to let you do you, but I'm also there to help guide you through your day. Whether that be making timeline recommendations, helping with a bit of direction during your portrait session, or moving things along during family photos to stay on track. I'm happy to be as involved as you need me to be, to keep things calm and fun.
My clients want to be photographed without knowing I'm there, they want to open their gallery and see the incredible party they planned being enjoyed by their friends and family, they want to be shown all the moments they missed (but I didn't) while they were off enjoying themselves. They want natural and refined images that transport them back to how they felt in that moment. They want to have a good time and have it photographed in a way that won't impede on their day and leave them with beautiful, lasting memories
As someone who has lost a lot of important people in my life I understand and more than anything emphasise that the people you love are just as, if not more important to capture as you at your wedding.
My most treasured photos are those of family I've lost. My two brothers walking down the aisle at my wedding, my sister the day she was born on my 10th birthday, my pop eating ice cream on his trip around Australia in the 70's. These are the photos I adore.
A huge priority for me is capturing the family and friends of my couples in the fleeting moments, because these are the ones you'll look back on and be most grateful for. Not the pretty portraits.

Kayla was a fly on the wall capturing it all, and it was definitely reflected in just how amazing the photos turned out.
I had a clear idea in advance about the concept of our photos, The result of Kayla's photos was breathtaking
Even my husband who usually isn't one for photos said that our sunset shoot was one of the favourite parts of the day
I can honestly say Kayla was the best decision we made for our entire wedding
